You will learn how to hold the needles, tension your yarn, cast on, knit and purl and cast off. We will look at different types of needles (wood, metal and plastic) and look at the different thickness of yarns and the correct needle sizes. You will go away with some needles and yarn along with a great UKHKA booklet (subject to stock) having mastered the very basics and we will talk and look at what you want to make in the future and how to achieve it. I teach in small groups for the beginner classes as this allows me time with everyone and to be able to make sure everyone masters the technique and gets an idea of what they want and how. Some classes we might look at patterns or talk about fits for clothes while others we just concentrate on the techniques, I have a fun way of reminding very beginners, bit macabre but it sticks in your head!
This workshop is held at the weaveKNITit studio above the shop at Cromford Mills, at the UNESCO World Heritage site at Cromford. Please note that there are some stairs as its on the first floor but toilets are on the same floor.
Hot drinks provided.
